Displayed is a rare pub jug from John Daly & Co. This jug was crafted by Carrigaline Pottery in Cork, Ireland. It’s the first addition to our collection of a jug manufactured by Carrigaline Pottery in Cork.

Dating back to 1779, John Daly & Co.,Ltd were a mineral water manufacturer located on Kyrl’s Quay in Cork city. Notably, in 1915, they pioneered the iconic Tanora brand. Amidst the pressure from Temperance groups for non-alcoholic beverages, Daly’s responded by importing tangerine oranges to create Tanora.

Beyond their beverage ventures, Daly’s held ownership of Kyrl’s Quay Bonded Warehouses and the Victoria Hotel in Cork. Half a century ago, they acquired the entire share capital of Coca Cola Bottling (Dublin), securing the Coca Cola franchise for Munster. This move granted Daly’s significant influence in the Irish soft drinks market. However, it was a Munster-based Coca Cola bottling company that eventually acquired Daly’s.
