Guinness jug

St. James Gate, The Home Of Guinness, Carrigdhoun, Circa 1980s/90s

On display is a Guinness jug, or pitcher, made by Carrigdhoun Pottery.

Originally known as Carrigaline Pottery, it became Cork Art Pottery Limited. After this venture failed, the workers established a co-operative in 1984, forming Carrigdhoun Pottery Co-operative Society Ltd. The co-operative was later purchased by a Brazilian family and subsequently sold to Stephen Pearce, ultimately closing in the 2000s.

The jug bears the text “St. James’s Gate, The Home of Guinness” on both sides.
