A cream earthenware advertising jug made for W.D. & H.O. Wills’s “Handy Cut Flake” pipe tobacco, with a rounded, faceted body, pulled spout, and curved loop handle. The front bears the maker’s advertising text in maroon transfer print: “WILLS’S / HANDY CUT FLAKE”.
The base carries the Arklow Pottery mark — an “AP” monogram within a rope-twist border, reading “ARKLOW · MADE IN REPUBLIC OF IRELAND”.
This jug was produced as a promotional bar-trade ware rather than for retail sale.
